The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington strives to help as many children as possible in accessing sports, camps and other recreational activities. It is estimated that close to 10,000 children in Guelph and Wellington are living in low income households. In 2016, the Children’s Foundation has been able to fund approximately 1,851 activities for 1,160 children. But we recognize there is still work to do to ensure that all children have access to the opportunity to participate in the activity of their choice.
By partnering with other organizations, we are able to create a more centralized system while also stretching our collective resources to meet the growing demand. In 2016, even with an increase in our Free to Play budget, we still ran out of funds by the end of September. This meant disappointing a number of families who were not able to receive any support for their children’s activities in the fall. By partnering with sports and arts organizations, we are able to take the necessary step in achieving more equity so that more children will have the opportunity to experience playing a sport, going to camp or participating in the arts.
We are very grateful for the ongoing support of our Program Partners. You can click on the links below to read more about their support.
