With the support of our program partners, our goal is to help as many children from low-income families as possible through a centralized system that is easily accessible for families.  Maximum subsidy per child, per calendar year is $400 - on a first-come, first-serve basis and provided funds are available.

Who is Eligible for Funding

  1. Children from birth through 18 years of age (must be 18 years at time of application).
  2. Children who live in Guelph or Wellington County.
  3. Families must provide documentation to show your family size and income. CLICK HERE to see what documents are required.
  4. Families with gross incomes (taken from Line 150 on tax notice) below the following household income levels (based on size):

Eligible Activities

We provide funding for sports, cultural and recreational activities.  Some examples of activities we provide funding for include:

  • Sports such as: soccer, hockey, baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, ringette, volleyball
  • Swimming lessons
  • Gymnastics, Acro, Cheerleading & Baton, Circus Arts
  • Martial Arts and Boxing
  • Equestrian lessons
  • Skating and Figure Skating
  • Skiing and Snowboarding
  • Archery and Fencing
  • Rock Climbing
  • Tennis and Golf lessons
  • Gym/fitness memberships
  • Dance classes
  • Music and vocal lessons
  • Yoga classes
  • Art and pottery classes
  • Camps: PD Day, March Break, Summer Camps (day and overnight)
  • After-school recreational program
  • Boys & Girls Clubs: Scouts, Cubs, Guides, Brownies, Sparks
  • Knitting-sewing classes, cooking classes, chess club
  • Parent & Tot Programs such as: swimming, music & movement, yoga

The following costs are not eligible:

  • Transportation
  • Equipment or Uniforms
  • Membership Fees (with the exception of gym membership fees, which are eligible)
  • Insurance Fees  
  • Skills-Training or Educational-Instructional programs (e.g. tutoring, babysitting, first aid-cpr)
  • School programs (including pre-school) or School Trips
  • Therapy - including art, music or sports therapy
  • Childcare / Daycare programs

Applications will not be assessed on:

  • the merits of the program or activity
  • the cost of the activity
  • the level of the activity (house league vs. rep teams)
